About Dr. Saleeby

Dr. Yusuf Saleeby, MD

Dr. Yusuf (JP) Saleeby received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1991. He obtained post-graduate education in internal medicine at East Carolina University School of Medicine. Since 1992 he has worked predominantly in Emergency Medicine and Integrative Preventive Care. He has educated himself in a more wholistic and preventive medicine paradigm of Western and Eastern medicine.  Dr. Saleeby applies the principles of traditional western medicine with select, well studied and researched elements of alternative and complimentary medicine from the disciplines of Ayurvedic,Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture & Western Herbal Medicine. 

He serves as medical director for an EMS service in South Carolina and was recent past medical director for the South Carolina Urban Search & Rescue Task Force-1 (Homeland Security/ FEMA).  Dr. Saleeby currently staffs and direct Priority Health, LLC a Wellness center in South Carolina with offices in North Carolina.  Links to the practice sites are available on this web site.

Dr. Saleeby is a medical writer and author having written extensively for regional and national journals and magazines. Publications include Diversions Magazine, Medical Economics, PracticeLink Magazine, Cortlandt Forum, American Fitness among others. He sits on the medical advisory board for the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America and Beachbody companies.  He is a Contributing Editor to AFAA's American Fitness magazine.  He is also a credentialed journalist with AMD.

He authored the book: Wonder Herbs: A Guide to Three Adaptogens (Xlibris, 2006) and contributed a chapter to Stop the Thyroid Madness, II (Laughing Grape, 2014).  He also contributed the chapter on stress management in the Life Extension Foundation's Disease Prevention and Treatment 5th edition (2013).  

He has formulated sports specific dietary supplements for a variety of nutraceutical companies (AdapTx Lab’s CardioFactor & PreFight, Vita Sanus Nutraceutical line, Priority Health Nutraceuticals, Parthelion Lab’s Fertility Regimen). In 2010 Dr. Saleeby founded established a site dedicated to direct access lab and blood testing for the general public at discounted prices.  In 2014 he created to help patients find physicians and practitioners who are able to diagnose and treat hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's more effectively.

  In 2014 Kristin Richardson PA-C joined his practice in Murrells Inlet.  She is under the direct supervision and direction of Dr. Saleeby in that practice.

He is a collector of original fine art and medical antiques and books. His medical antique collection includes instruments from 100 AD to circa 1950’s with many pieces in the pre-1880’s (Civil War era) time period. He is a lecturer on topics of medical history with a focus on American Civil War medicine and surgery. He is an active member of the Society of Civil War Surgeons and the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.
